I got an email from Susan McNaughton today. She was taking photographs at dawn when she spotted a badger in the cliff edge gardens above the harbour. An hour later she saw it again trotting over harbour beach. Badgers are common around Crail but they are strictly nocturnal and I have never seen one here in daylight – at least one that isn’t dead at the side of the road. I wonder if the discarded crabs, fish and lobster bits that are often on the beach there are an attraction.
